The everyday number kit
A little math.
A lot less guessing.
Work out a tip, share a bill, or check a sale price. Use the same currency for every amount; these tools do not convert currencies.

Three calculations you can check yourself
How to calculate a tip
Multiply the amount you want to tip on by the percentage divided by 100. For an 80.00 bill and an 18% tip, the tip is 80 × 0.18 = 14.40. Adding it to the bill gives a total of 94.40. Split between two people, that is 47.20 each.
Tip = bill × tip percentage ÷ 100
The calculator applies the percentage to the bill amount you enter. If you want to tip on the amount before tax, enter that amount and account for the tax separately. Check whether the bill already includes a service charge before adding another amount. The preset percentage is an example, not advice about local tipping customs.
How to split a bill evenly
Add the shared extras to the original bill, then divide the total by the number of people. A bill of 120.00 with 12.00 in shared extras comes to 132.00. For three people, each share is 44.00. This tool assumes every person pays the same amount; it does not allocate individual orders.
Each share = (bill + extras) ÷ people
When the total does not divide evenly, rounding can leave a small difference. For example, 10.00 divided by three displays 3.33 each. Two people can pay 3.33 and one can pay 3.34 to cover the full total. All displayed amounts use two decimal places, so check the smallest unit used by your currency before paying.
How a percentage discount changes a price
A 25% discount on 60.00 saves 15.00 and leaves a price of 45.00. The discount calculator shows the reduced price before any separate taxes, delivery charges, or checkout fees.
Sale price = original price × (1 − discount ÷ 100)
Multiple discounts usually apply in sequence. A 20% discount followed by another 10% discount on a 100.00 item gives 80.00, then 72.00. That is a combined 28% reduction, rather than 30%. To check a second discount with this tool, enter the first reduced price as the new original price.
